ENVIRONMENTAL LABELLING OF PACKAGING BY DUNA

The DUNA Group has always been committed to operating in the full respect of ethical values, people and the environment, as demonstrated by the many product and process certifications earned and reconfirmed over the years.

We strive every day to maximise the sustainability of our business activities, develop new environmentally friendly products, select packaging with reduced environmental impact and promote the most efficient supply and transport methods. We launched the ambitious Zero Waste project in 2015, aimed at minimising waste, reducing the environmental impact of our processes and upcycling production scraps in the form of new high-performance materials. In 2021, we have also opened a new drum and ICB washing plant to give new life to this industrial packaging, thus reducing metal and plastic consumption.

To reduce our impact on the Planet, we firmly believe in guiding customers and end consumers towards more responsible consumption choices and clearly instructing them on the correct way to dispose of end-of-life products and packaging. This is why we were one of the first companies in the chemical industry to comply with the new international environmental labelling regulations by providing labels containing clear instructions on the proper disposal of all packaging. 

As a result of the transposition of EU Directives 2018/851 and 2018/852 on waste and packaging management, in Europe now manufacturers, local distributors and third parties are required to apply identification labels to packaging (primary, secondary and tertiary). For instance, in Italy, the European directives have been implemented by Legislative Decree 116/2020 and further detailed by the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security Decree 2022/360 on environmental labelling, which also recognises the possibility of using digital channels to replace or supplement the mandatory information provided directly on the packaging.

In compliance with the new regulations, we have developed a summary sheet for each DUNA product category showing the type of packaging used and its material composition (codification according to Decision 97/129/EC), together with instructions for correct sorting and disposal. However, the information provided below does not relieve our business partners and end-users from the responsibility of checking the waste disposal regulations issued by the relevant authorities or in force in their area.
